Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies

I love homemade cookies.
Warm from the oven with a nice cold glass of milk...mmmmm.
Can't get much better than that!
These cookies have been a favorite for a while, and I'm excited to share them here on the blog!
It all started one year, a little after Halloween.
My boys had lots of packs of M&M's and I thought this would be a good way to use them up.
We've had a chocolate chip cookie recipe we've used for years, but this time we had decided to add the M&M's and it was magical.
Let's take a look at how these lovelies come together
(This recipe makes about 30 cookies)
Ingredients
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. chocolate chips
3/4 c. M&M's

Directions
Preheat the oven to 375.
In a large mixing bowl beat shortening and butter on low-medium speed for about 30 seconds.
Add brown sugar, white sugar, and baking soda. Continue mixing until combined.
Scrape sides as needed.
Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined.
Add flour and mix together.
Lastly, mix in chocolate chips and M&M's.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Using a spoon, scoop about 2 Tbsp of cookie dough onto the parchment paper.
Bake for about 7-9 minutes.
You want to pull the cookies out right before they start to brown.
Let cookies sit for a minute and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Grab some ice cold milk and enjoy!
